Villager and Rabbit Peaks - backpack/peakbag- entire set

Matt and I headed out to the northern part of Anza Borrego desert state park (a couple hours east of San Diego) to complete a bucket-list bag of Villager (2nd time) and Rabbit (1st time) peaks. This was a true slobber-knocker backpacking trip - one of the top five toughest hikes/trips in my experience. It was a blast!!!

 

Mt Whitney CA - backpack/peakbag- entire set

I was very fortunate  (and grateful) to be included on this backpacking trip to climb Mt. Whitney. The total round-trip distance to Mt. Whitney from the trailhead (Whitney Portal) is 22 miles and 6000 ft gain. My knees aren't quite up for that distance and so I jumped on the opportunity to break it up by making it a backpacking trip. We camped at the Outpost camp, at 10,400 ft. Round trip from the camp to peak was then only 12 miles and 4000 ft gain. Our summit day coincided perfectly with a wind storm and we experienced sustained winds around 35 mph and gusts up to 55 mph. Most of the party decided to turn around at some point because of the cold/wind, but I still made it to the top. What an adventure!

And I also created a few stitched panoramic views from this trip... amazing landscapes.

 

Mt Langley CA - backpack/peakbag - entire set

Warm-up trip for Mt. Whitney next month. Nice weather. My camera was on a wrong setting and most of these photos look like crap because I had to correct the exposure using software. Great trip though - perfect weather. It was fun to catch and fry up a few rainbow trout... um good.

 

Havasupai Falls, Supai, AZ - meetup backpack - entire set

110 degrees. 10 miles and 3000 ft loss/gain. Awesome people. 72 degree neon blue water. Life is good!

 

Nolina Wash up to the Whale - meetup hike, up the hard way - entire set

Good people. Tough hiking. 80 degrees in February. Life is good!

 

Carrizo Mtn and Jacumba Mtn - a solo desert peak bag in the rain - entire set

Don't ever let the rain stop you.

 

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument - a trip to the "green desert" for Christmas - entire set

I've seen a lot of beautiful desert landscapes, but this scenery was simply stunning. The Organ Pipe and Saguaro cacti are pretty amazing too!
